The Shire of Ashburton is proud to introduce Mr Jeffrey Breen as the new Chief Executive.

The decision was announced at the December 15 Council Meeting in Onslow.

Jeff has worked at the Shire of Ashburton for 4 years and was previously the Executive Manager of Engineering Services. Jeff has a wealth of experience both in local Government and the private sector.

Shire President Cr Greg Musgrave said he welcomed the appointment of Jeff and looked forward to working with him in the future.

“To assume a leadership role right now presents exciting and rewarding new challenges and opportunities for Jeff.”

“Jeff and his staff will take our great Shire forward to create sustainable communities people can call home.”

Jeff confirmed he already plans to bring about change in pursuit of strategic aspirations including implementing the Shire’s Business and Organisational Structure Review.

Jeff said it was critical the Shire continued to negotiate profitable outcomes stemming from anticipated resource investment.

“He will take control of our current Strategic Plan to ensure targets are met. It’s about change and preparing our Shire for the future.”

“In recent times the Shire announced major projects it will undertake to begin the transformation and revitalisation of our towns, again Jeff will be at the helm managing these projects together with others planned such as upgrades to the Tom Price sporting precinct,” Cr Musgrave said.

Cr Musgrave also took the opportunity to thank the outgoing CEO Keith Pearson for his contribution and dedication.

“His effort, achievements and professionalism over the last five years is second to none.”

I’ve had the pleasure of observing Keith’s academic wizardry and skill in dealing with high level and sensitive matters including Witternoon litigation, Ashburton North and other mining planning issues to name a few. “

Keith will continue to work for the Shire as a Special Projects Advisor based in Perth.
