Two towns in the Shire have received accolades in this year’s Tidy Town’s - Sustainable Communities Pilbara Category Awards.

Paraburdoo has taken out the "Community Action Award" and the "Recycling and Waste Management Award" went to Tom Price, with the Shire’s own waste coordinator Margaret Rowe taking out a Special Commendation Award.

Judges were particularly impressed with the excellent initiatives spearheaded by both towns.

The judges said Tom Price had shown that it was a leader in effectively tackling recycling and waste management issues in a remote part of the Pilbara and Paraburdoo’s Tidy Towns Committee had worked effectively and collaboratively with other groups across the board to deliver a huge range of fun, engaging and meaningful events for everyone to enjoy.

The awards were presented on Friday October 15, with the State Awards to be held in Perth later in the month.
