The Shire of Ashburton are developing a Local History Strategy, which will outline how we preserve, collect, document and promote the stories of Tom Price, Paraburdoo, Pannawonica and Onslow, plus past towns of Old Onslow and Wittenoom for the next five years.
A first for the Shire, the strategy will focus on tangible things you can touch, see and hear such as photos, maps, books, videos, audio recordings and artifacts, as well as intangible things you’re told about, or are learned eg. language, skills and stories, local customs and traditions passed down through generations.
We are asking for community members to get involved by sharing your ideas and providing feedback. By filling out this form you will be notified of upcoming engagement groups, information sessions and project progress.
There is also an opportunity to input your own historical findings.
All input into the Strategy is recorded.
