Pilbara Regional Waste Management Facility

The Pilbara Regional Waste Management Facility (PRWMF), just 36km from Onslow, is is fast becoming the go-to provider of comprehensive waste management solutions in the Pilbara and surrounding regions.

Construction of the PRWMF commenced in 2019 and stage one was mobilised in April 2022. With multiple future development stages, the initial project was made possible through funding by the Australian Government through the Building Better Regions Fund, Chevron, and the Shire of Ashburton.

As the only Class IV facility outside of Perth Metro area and the only such facility within Northwest Australia, the PRWMF will accept Class I, II, III and IV wastes, including waste from the mining, industrial and oil and gas sectors across the wider Pilbara region. The fully integrated facility will also consist of a green waste processing complex and construction and demolition recycling operation, liquid waste facility, tyre mono-cells and offer asbestos management capabilities.

The development of the PRWMF will facilitate economic diversification and growth by significantly reducing the cost of managing waste, including hazardous materials for the mining, oil and gas, government and other industries throughout Onslow, the Pilbara Region and beyond.
