Minna Oval Sports Club Reaches Practical Completion

The Shire of Ashburton is proud to announce the practical completion of the brand-new Minna Oval Sports Club in North Tom Price, a major milestone for the community.

Delivered with a $10 million contribution from Rio Tinto, this modern facility is set to provide new social, sporting and regional opportunities for Tom Price. After 18 months of construction, the pavilion features a clubhouse with a kitchen and bar, club rooms, showers and bathrooms, a deck and outdoor area, as well as new goal posts, creating a premier venue for sporting activities, events and community functions.

Shire President Audra Smith said the project represents a significant step forward in enhancing community facilities.

“The new Minna Oval Sports Club reflects the vibrancy of our sporting clubs and community groups. By expanding our facilities, we’re responding to the growing demand for quality social and sporting spaces. This facility will not only support local sport but will also provide an exciting venue for events, making it a hub for Tom Price and the wider region,” said President Smith.

Rio Tinto Iron Ore Rail, Port and Core Services Managing Director Richard Cohen said:

“It’s exciting to see the new Minna Oval Sports Club come to life for the Tom Price community.

“Sport has a unique way of bringing people together, building connections and fostering vibrant, healthy communities.

“We hope the new facility becomes a cherished place where people can connect, celebrate local sports, and create lasting memories with family, friends, and neighbours.

“Congratulations to the Shire of Ashburton and everyone involved in bringing this fantastic facility to life.”

Minna Oval is now officially open. Details of the community opening event will be shared via the Shire’s website and social media channels.
