The Shire of Ashburton has adopted its budget for 2022/23 with $50 million allocated to capital works programs

Shire of Ashburton President Kerry White said that this year’s capital works program of $50 million was less than previous years as more investment was being made into improving the Shire’s systems and organisational processes.

“On the back of several years prioritising high monetary investment into capital and infrastructure projects, our budget for 2022-2023 is focused on improving our operational requirements and internal systems”, acknowledged Councillor White.

“Over the past two years, the Shire of Ashburton has delivered $140 million in capital projects to ensure essential physical infrastructure is in place to attract and retain our vibrant and active communities across the towns of Tom Price, Onslow, Paraburdoo and Pannawonica.

“For 2022-2023, the delivery of undercover multipurpose courts will get underway shortly, providing new and revitalised sporting amenities to the communities of Tom Price and Paraburdoo.

“Other significant projects include Stages 3 development of Ocean View Caravan Park and continued upgrades to Onslow Sun Chalets, completion of Tom Price Childcare Centre and Tom Price Emergency Services Facility, Onslow Airport improvement works, seawall extension and upgrades to ANZAC Memorial in Onslow, as well as road renewal programs and town infrastructure across all our towns.

“In line with Council’s vision, and our newly adopted Strategic Community Plan 2022-2032, future proofing our towns remains at the forefront.

“In our unique Pilbara environment, opportunities can be found everywhere and, as a Council, we are continuing to drive, attract and source investment to the region to ensure ongoing expansion of services, accessibility, commercialisation and industry growth”.
