The Shire of Ashburton is encouraging members of the public to nominate those who actively serve our community for Community Citizen of the Year.

Each year on Australia Day, the Community Citizen of the Year Awards provide the Shire with an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of people within the community.

The Awards reward and recognise individuals and organisations who have made a notable contribution during the year, and those who have given outstanding service over several years.

Shire of Ashburton President Kerry White encourages residents to nominate their fellow community members to thank them for their service to our Shire.

“The Community Citizen of the Year Awards are a great way to acknowledge the contributions of our community members across all areas of life”, said Councillor White.

“By recognising those who have made a significant contribution to our community, we hope to encourage continued active participation across the Shire.

“If you know someone who goes above and beyond for their town and deserves to be recognised for their efforts, I encourage you to nominate on their behalf.”

This year, the awards comprise of four categories:

  • Community Citizen of the Year (over 16 years)
  • Senior Community Citizen of the Year (65 years or over)
  • Young Community Citizen of the Year (under 25 years)
  • Active Citizenship Award (community group or event)

Nominations can be made via www.citizenshipawards.com.au/nominate

Nominations close October 31, 2021.
