An all-time favourite for families and foodies, the Culinary Showcase at this year’s Passion of the Pilbara is the festival’s tastiest experience being held 9:30am-10.30am on Saturday 14 August 2021 at the Onslow Community Gardens.

Anna Bruno and her son Jordan are hosting the Culinary Showcase, after showing Australia their traditional family cooking power on the ever-popular cooking show My Kitchen Rules, bringing the unique flavours of their Maltese and Italian heritage to the table in creative and tasty ways.

Since becoming semi-finalists on My Kitchen Rules, Anna and Jordon have grown into well-loved Western Australian chefs. Anna now runs a private cooking school alongside her delicious cannoli business  ‘Mama Anna’s Cannoli’, and Jordon travels and cooks around the globe at special events, and has launched ‘Outback Eats’ – a pop-up restaurant and food truck specialising in native Australian produce.

Sponsored by BHP, the Culinary Showcase is a free, family-friendly event set in relaxing gardens complete with a chefs dream outdoor kitchen. Bringing together avid foodies in the community ahead of the main Passion of the Pilbara event being held in the afternoon, it’s a relaxing and fun experience for all ages.

Shire of Ashburton President Kerry White, said she was looking forward to meeting Anna and Jordan, and tasting some of their Maltese and Italian treats.

“Anna and Jordon have made a very good name for themselves as talented WA and family friendly chefs.

“Not only do they love travelling Australia and inspiring chefs of all levels and ages, they bring a whole lot of fun to the table and get everyone involved,” she said.

Passion of the Pilbara, presented each year by the Shire of Ashburton, will kick off on the Friday night from 6pm with the Passion of the Pilbara Launch Party. Saturday morning the Onslow Community Gardens will come alive with the Culinary Showcase, followed in the afternoon by the main festival at Thalanyji Sports Oval complete with carnival rides, kids zones, cooking classes, roving entertainment, food and beverage outlets, and of course live music stage into the night.

Announced earlier this month, Birds of Tokyo will headline the main event on Saturday night.

All Passion of the Pilbara events are free to attend, family-friendly, with only food, beverages and some children’s rides and games requiring payment. Everything else is free and no ticket purchases are required for events.

This year’s festival is being made possible by the Shire of Ashburton and the generous support and sponsorship from event partner Chevron Wheatstone Project, premium partner BHP, partners Horizon Power, Mineral Resources, Pilbara Development Commission, and associates Onslow General Store, Onslow Beach Resort, Dice Electrical, Onslow Bus and Taxi, K + S Salt and the Pilbara News.
