  • Paraburdoo Paracycle pod up and running

The Paraburdoo “Paracycle” pod, which was named by Paraburdoo local’s Georgea Guenole and Seton Webber-Hyde, during a children’s naming competition has officially opened in town.

Shire of Ashburton Waste Management Coordinator Margaret Rowe said that the recycling pod made it easier for Paraburdoo residents to separate and recycle materials.

“Previously there were large bins at the Paraburdoo tip where residents were able to take recycled goods to, however they didn’t work well”.

“The new pod means residents now have the opportunity to recycle rather than putting recyclable materials into landfill.”

“As well as recycling glass, cans, plastics and cardboard, residents can also purchase half- price compost bins for $25 from the Shire offices.”

The new pod is located in the centre of town near the Shire Office and Library.

The recycled materials from Paraburdoo are transported to Tom Price where they are later sorted crushed and bailed for transportation to Perth at a later date.

Local Shire worker Rebecca Parish shows how it's done when it comes to recycling material properly.
