Ashburton River

The Ashburton River is suitable for swimming, fishing and camping. There are picnic areas available and it is close to the old Onslow 10 Mile Pool.

Heritage Trails

For the keen walker there are two heritage trails - the Old Onslow trail and the Onslow Town trail - as well as plenty of beach to enjoy.

Museums

The Goods Shed Museum contains a wealth of Onslow's local history dating back to the early years of the town. It also covers the British atomic tests carried out on the Montebello Islands in the early 1950s.

Accommodation

Onslow offers a range of accommodation from offshore island adventures on Thevenard Island and Direction Island through to a well presented caravan park located on the beach front. Enjoy fishing and other beach activities right on your doorstep. You can stay at the Beadon Bay Village which offers a range of accommodation and is located near the boat ramp. Accommodation is also available at the Sun Chalets located in Second Avenue with private access to the beach.

Accommodation in Pannawonica is available at the Shire owned caravan site and the Pannawonica Tavern. You may even wish to stay at one of the permanent water holes located along the Robe River.

Mine Tours

Robe River Iron at Pannawonica offers free mine tours and these can be arranged by phoning ESS in Pannawonica (08) 91841142.

Safety equipment will be provided, but closed-in shoes must be worn (no thongs or sandal) and a responsible adult must accompany children under the age of 16.

Robe River

The Robe River near Pannawonica offers well shaded swimming holes, picnic and camping areas. These unique pools are a haven for much of the areas native flora and fauna.

Aboriginal Art Galleries

In the area near Pannawonica can be found world class rock carvings of the lands original inhabitants. A four wheel drive is recommended as the trail is unsuitable for ordinary vehicles.
