Ranger Services
The Shire of Ashburton employs two full time rangers. One ranger is based in Onslow, who services both Onslow and Pannawonica and the western sector of the Shire, and the other is based in Tom Price, serving both Tom Price and Paraburdoo and the eastern sector of the Shire.
Rangers are Municipal Law Enforcement Officers who are responsible for enforcing the following legislation:
- Dog Act 1976 and associated local laws;
- Litter Act 1979;
- Control of Vehicles (Off Road Areas) Act 1978;
- Local Government Act 1995 (in relation to vehicle offences);
- Bush Fires Act 1954;
- Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1960; and
- Various Local Laws of the Shire of Ashburton.
The Shire Rangers can be contacted during normal working hours through the Council Offices in Onslow and Tom Price and after hours by mobile telephone for emergencies only.
