Building Licences for Swimming & Spa Pools / Swimming Pool Inspections
A Private Swimming Pool is considered a “Class 10B Structure under the Building Code of Australia” and consequently requires, a Building Licence, prior to installation.
By definition a Private Swimming Pool is any excavation or structure able to hold water to a depth greater than 300mm and used primarily for swimming, wading, paddling or the like activity. This also includes spas, whether they are located inside or outside the house, and kept permanently filled with water.

SWIMMING POOL INSPECTIONS Regular mandatory inspections of private swimming pools is a legal requirement under the Local Government [Miscellaneous Provisions] Act 1960.
Inspections are required every four [4] years to ensure that swimming pool enclosures comply with the statutory requirements. This also includes spa pools.
Householders will be notified individually prior to inspections commencing.
