Mental Health Week - Heath Black
As part of the Shire’s ‘Health and Wellbeing Programs’ for October, we are hosting guest speaker ‘Heath Black’ for the 50th Anniversary of Mental Health Week, and would like to offer other members of the Community a chance to attend his presentation along with the Shire’s staff.
Heath’s presentation is about his personal journey struggling with Mental Health and his passion to help others who have lost their way in life. After leaving professional football and spiralling out of control, Heath realised the full extent of his mental health issues following the failure of his marriage, lost job opportunities, several arrests and growing dependence on alcohol.
Since retiring from football, Heath has completed his Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment, trained to facilitate 1Life Suicide Prevention presentations, AFLPA training to facilitate Stress Management, Healthy Choices and Respect & Responsibility workshops, completed an internationally accredited Suicide Assist Course, training for VLine in Lifeskills for young people (bullying and understanding how to help victims) and is currently studying
his Graduate Certificate in Social Science/Male Family Violence).
There will be 2 presentations held in Tom Price and all members of the Community are welcome to attend
